Omega's Newest Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8

Meet the Calibre 3869. Powering our newest Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8, this Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement reveals both sides of the Moon, thanks to detailed laser engraving and contrasting surfaces.
A TRIBUTE TO THE MISSION
In 1968, the Apollo 8 crew became the first humans to ever see the far side of the moon. In tribute, OMEGA has produced this bold ceramic chronograph with a skeletonised dial, a Saturn V rocket hand, and a decorated movement that depicts the lunar surface.

THE MOON ON YOUR WRIST
Through the skeletonised dial, OMEGA reveals the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3869. Not only reaching the industry’s highest standard of precision, the movement features a laser-ablated moon relief on the blackened main plate and bridges. Thanks to laser engraving and contrasting surfaces, the definition is more pronounced than ever before.
- At 9 o'clock, the small-seconds hand in grade 5 titanium is shaped like NASA's Saturn V rocket. The 3D structure is obtained by laster turning, while the colours are achieved with white varnish, ablation, and laser blackening.
- To contrast the black and grey colorway of this watch, the design includes a varnished yellow central seconds hand, as well as tachymeter scale filled with white "Grand Feu" enamel.
- Around the transparent caseback, the words "We'll see you on the other side" reference Jim Lovell's final words spoken to ground control just before Apollo 8 travelled to the far side of the moon.

THE FULL ORBIT
OMEGA has voyaged around the moon to capture the incredible look of this Speedmaster timepiece. The final design has been produced with the very best materials, while the craftsmanship is at the highest level of watchmaking expertise. The exploration is now over to you!
